During the 1980s, one of the strongest centers within the international movement to overthrow apartheid in South Africa was in the US. As part of that movement, students protested at university campuses across the country, building mock shanty towns and calling on schools and corporations to divest their holdings in South Africa. This bumper sticker was created in 1985 as part of a broad campaign in the San Francisco Bay area in solidarity with the liberation struggle in South Africa.
